Spiderman 3

Expectations were high considering I had heard totally mixed reviews about the movie. On one hand I had heard it was really good and on the other as very cheesy. Having seen the movie, I would say it depends on what you expected of the movie when you went in. Special effects were definitely amazing and considering there were 3 villains in the movie, there was a lot of work for Spiderman and fighting.
So Peter and MJ are together now and they are very much in love. Peter is considering proposing to MJ. But MJ is having a tough time with her career and work. She is fired and is not doing well. But she is not able to share this with Peter, who is much elated by his status as Spiderman. She feels a strange distance growing between them.
The strangeness in Peter is because of a new evil black thing that seems to display parasitic properties that makes the host have negative thoughts. Peter ends up feeling gratified in doing things that aren't good.
At the same time, things aren't well with Harry and Peter. Now that Harry knows the truth and having discovered his father's equipments, Harry is out to take revenge on Peter. On one of these fights, he severely injures his head that he forgets things that had happened in the recent past. This turns out to be a good thing for Peter, as he is able to be friends with Harry again. MJ also finds solace with Harry, when she feels really lonely. After a misunderstood kiss, Harry is agitated and when he returns to his room, he regains his memory.
Meanwhile, an escaped convict trying to gather funds for his daughter's operation ends up in a particle physics experiment facility and is reduced to 'sandman'. He uses his new found ability to appear out of sand to get the cash for his daughter. Spiderman manages to stop him.
Peter and Aunt May discover that the man responsible for Uncle Ben's death is not the one, but it was actually the escaped convict that Spiderman stopped. Peter is filled with vengeance again. Although MJ tries to help him, he brushes her off.
At work, Peter is competing with a new photographer Brock. He is ousted by him and now is left almost jobless.
Harry becomes a villain and decides to hurt Peter from the heart. He threatens MJ to break up with Peter. After she does, Peter is disheartened, but his strangeness makes him do weird things, that hurt both Peter and Gwen, another woman he tries to date, becoming into a playboy.
Eventually, Peter decides to get rid of the evilness and ends up near the bell in the church. With the bell ringing strongly, the evil gets off him, but onto Brock, who is witnessing the entire scene of Peter.
Harry and Peter have a serious fight and Peter injures him severely and leaves a burnt scar on one half of his face. MJ is captured by sandman and the evil thing that Brock had turned into. Peter goes to Harry for help, but he refuses. After Peter leaves, Harry's butler confesses that Harry's father's wounds seemed to come from his own weapons and not anyone else's.
While Spiderman is trying very hard to save MJ and keep the villains at bay, he is unable to do so and Harry comes in on time to save and with the duo, they manage to keep the villains relatively at bay. But in the end, Brock gets destroyed with the black evil thing. Sandman is remorseful about his state. Harry gets fatally hurt and Peter and MJ get together again.
Only while writing this I realized how many stories were going hand in hand and I have not still written all the stories. Anyway, the story was woven and Spiderman against 3 villains seemed an overkill and overemphasis on the skills of a strange teenage boy. The last 20 minutes of action and mushiness seemed a little stretched and I definitely was wondering how come the butler didn't mention about the wounds earlier. But certainly there were some cheesy mushiness at the scene about how the villain didn't choose to be who he was. I say all villains can say that and get away with it. It's rare to find 20 minutes of conversation between the good and bad guy explaining why he did what he did. Anyway, the movie was good for the special effects watch.
