Starring Julia Roberts in the role of Ms Watson, a revolutionary single woman (unheard in those days) trying to make a difference in the life of a traditional school.
Ms Watson is a single woman, who has refused offers of marriage to better herself and to make a change in the life of the women in the society. She receives an invitation to teach at a prestigious institution and accepts it. Daunted on the first day, she catches up with the rhythm of the school and becomes dear to many students, except one. Her arguments, discussions and advice falls on her deaf ears, but the student feels it, when calamity hits her life.
With the rigourous change brought about in the course outline, the school decides to oust Ms Watson and the teacher sees the difference and change she has brought about in the faces and eagerness of her students on the last day.
A good movie to watch – although it seemed like a typical chic flick, it covered other aspects and emotions of the era and society as well.
