Becoming Jane is a movie based on Jane Austen's biography.
Jane is a tomboyish girl, interested in becoming an author, but coming from a poor family, there is constantly the need to look out for rich husbands. her mother never fails to do that for her. Her cousin's friend, Tom Lefroy, annoys her and everytime she tries to outsmart him. The friction turns into attraction. But Jane hears that Lefroy is engaged to another rich woman. In anger, she agrees to marry the rich shy bachelor. Lefroy convinces Jane to elope with him and Jane agrees and everything goes as per plan. However, halfway down the trip, Jane comes to know of Lefroy's huge family and monetary concerns and she returns home. She apologises to the man she was engaged to.
The movie moves to many years later. Jane is unmarried, but a successful author. She sees Lefroy and discovers that he has named his daughter Jane.
It was a mix of all of Austenian novels - Pride and Prejudice, Persuasions, etc. It was a terrible drag and definitely good to skip it. It also seems like there was no factual base to the story either. There was lack of chemistry between the characters. Probably, few of the characters to look out for were Jane male cousin and his wife (who was Jane's companion), as well as her mother, but other than that, there wasn't much to look out for.
