Superstar Rajnikanth, Sripriya, Major, Balaji, AVM Rajan, Manohar, Ashokan, Manorama, and Thengaai Srinivasan perform in this famous film with the "My name is Billa" song.
The movie starts off with the don of the underworld Billa and his evil actions in the society. Sripriya is the sister of one of the accomplices of Billa, who is killed because he tried to leave their gang. Sripriya is vengeful and joins Billa's gang with the intention of killing him someday.
Balaji plays Inspector Alexander who is on the trail for Billa. He is assisted by AVM Rajan on this mission. Major plays as Interpol Officer Gokulnath. During one of the trackdowns, Balaji manages to hurt Billa fatally. Balaji keeps Billa's death a secret and uses a street performer by the name of Rajappa, who looks exactly like Billa.
Rajappa becomes Billa in exchange for a good life of 2 orphans that depend on him. Secret information about the gang is continually leaked out to the police. Along the way, Sripriya learns that Billa is, in fact, Rajappa and they fall in love.
A flashback of Thengaai is shown at this point. He worked for Billa for a theft because his wife is on deathbed, but Balaji refueses to let him go. In the process, Thengaai loses his wife and doesn't know where his children are anymore. Now, he is vengeful for Balaji. He visits Balaji after his release, but has to wait.
On one occasion, when all the international smugglers gather for a celebration, the police plan to arrest. During the operation, Balaji is fatally wounded and all the bad guys are captured. Raja continually refuses that he is Billa and tries various ways to get the police to believe him. When Balaji dies, Raja has only a diary to fall back on for his true identity.
Where this diary went is unknown. Although the movie trail seemed pretty predictable, the climax was bearable. An OK movie, but fast forward all songs and fight sequences.
