Starring Ashley Judd, Greg McKinnear and Hugh Jackman, 'Someone Like You' is the love triangle of a woman, desperately searching for the reason why men leave her all the time. She comes up with a cow theory, which pretty much ruled the entire movie.
Judd and Jackman are working for a famous woman, who is the host of a talk show. The host loves to interview revolutionary people. Judd, then, meets a new arrival, McKinnear, with whom, although she knows to be involved with someone, she ends up getting close to. They almost come to the point of moving together, when he breaks up with her. Judd is devastated and because she lost her roof too, ends up moving in with Jackman, who is known to be an excessive flirt and ladies' man.
They share some sweet moments living in the same apartment. Judd is unable to get over McKinnear and tries to make sense of why men can't be in a relationship for a long time. She reads various books and watched many documentaries and comes up with a cow theory to explain the behaviour of men. Along the way, Judd's friend, who is in the magazine industry, asks her to write for the magazine with this material. Judd ends up doing that with a pen name.
The article becomes a stupendous success and her boss, now wants the author of the article. Meanwhile, Judd's sister goes through a miscarriage. While visiting her, she sees what a sweet man her brother - in - law is and how happy they are, despite their misfortune. She changes her mind about her article and theory and decides to call - in to her boss' show. At the last minute, she shows up in person for the show, during the climax. In the end, she and Jackson get together.
A typical chic flick and romantic comedy. It is pretty sad how some people end up in sadness because a relationship breaks apart. And some just end up doing things the wrong way. It was sort of desperate the way Judd kept trying to get back with McKinnear even though she was absolutely mad and disappointed in him.
