chandramukhi

Superstar Rajnikanth, Prabhu, Jyothika and Nayantara star in this psychological and paranormal thriller. Supporting cast by Vijaykumar, Nazar, Vineeth, Malavika and many others. Vadivelu takes care of the comedy department.
The movie begins with Rajni kicking butt of some 30 bad guys and then a trip down the memory lane for a family, where a woman couldn't marry her cousin, cause he loved someone else. So now, Prabhu marrying Jyothika adds like a blow.
To introduce the characters, Rajni is a psychiatrist, who was an orphan brought up by Probhu's father and he is very grateful for the life. Prabhu is Sivaji's and K.R.Vijaya's son. Sivaji is no more. Prabhu loves and marries Jyothika.
Prabhu and Jyothika return to their ancestral village and buy an ancient villa that was previously a palace. Rumours are that it is haunted. Scenes with Rajni and Vadivelu around this part were hilarious. So everyone moves into the house. Jyothika's playfulness makes her open up the haunted room - rumoured that Chandramukhi lived in it.
Weird things begin to happen in the house and the blame seems to be falling on Nayantara - who is the daughter of the house gardener.
Finally a Kerala namboodari (Malayalam priest) is called to get rid of the ghost. In an instance, Jyothika and Vineeth (fiancee of Malavika) are found behaving inappropriately to each other. Prabhu and Rajni argue about the situation. That is when the history about the house and the reason for the strange happenings a revealed.
I would not want to spoil the thrill of the plot for those who haven't seen it. But it was a really good show. Vidyasagar's music was fresh and preppy. The movie is a tamil remake of Malayalam Manichitrataazhu. A must-see movie!
