Krishna

This is a Hindi mythological series produced by Ramanand Sagar. It was probably one of the first and the best version of the story of Krishna - a Hindu God.
The producer has attempted well to recreate the olden days with appropriate costumes and pure Hindi. After living out of my country for such a long time and hearing the mixed language in recent movies and personal interactions, it feels like a treat for the ear to hearing the language in its pure form. There are frequent dialogues in Sanskrit. So far I have managed to view only 5 tapes (each containing about 3 episodes). So a grand total of 15 episodes.
Thus far, the story has explored the reason behind the Bhagvad Puran - the righteous king Parikshit was caused to commit a menial act due to the effect of Kaliyug. Parikshit's descent could be traced from the Pandavas. To assist him to attain moksha, a divine sage tells him the story of Bhagvad Puran. Beginning from the 1st of Vishnu's avathars, the story leads into the incarnation of Krishna.
The story is elaborate and eventful. The sets and costumes are well done. My only personal drawback is the songs and the singing. They are a little tedious and I'd rather that someone narrates those bits rather than sing.
The part that I have stopped at right now is just before the birth of the 7th son of Devaki, who is destined to be the mother of Krishna. To be continued...
